weekly wrap up + AHA in mexico

this week i wanted to wrap things up with an image that has been haunting me (in a good way) all day. one of my favorite artists, tanya aguiñiga, has been working on a new project called artists helping artisans. AHA focuses on helping artists in marginalized communities whose craft traditions or livelihoods are at risk. right now tanya is in chiapas, mexico working with an amazing group of weavers. she’s been sending updates about the work they’re doing and among the blog updates were a series of photos taken on a hilltop. this tiny church with its festive banners swaying in the wind has been calling to me all morning. do you even look at a place and feel like you recognize it (even if you’ve never seen it) or that you’re supposed to go there? for some reason i’m feeling that way about this amazing little hilltop church and i’m hoping that maybe one day i can convince tanya to take me there. it just seems like such a beautiful, magical little spot. ok, back to earth. if you’d like to check out AHA or hear more about their work, tanya and her team will be at the renegade craft fair in LA this weekend, so stop by and say hello if you’re there. i’m signing off for the day- i hope you all have a wonderful weekend and i’ll see you on monday! below is a summary of this week’s highlights…
